Sometimes facing a challenge feels…
… overwhelming – or, at the least, very frustrating. There it is… right in your face… yet you can’t seem to work through or around it!
It’s a loss of perspective that’s responsible for this.
There’s an old saying that goes something like this…
Survey large fields; plow small ones.
My aim is to help you take a step back and improve your perspective – thus freeing you to work through your “field” or challenge.
Whatever the challenge you face…
Whether it’s depression, anxiety, or an addiction, I would like to help you work through it.
If you’re depressed, you’re likely stuck in negative feelings and thoughts – lacking motivation to follow through on actions that could help you feel better.
Perhaps you’ve tried all you could before, but it just doesn’t seem to work over time – not sure if change is even possible.
If anxiety is a menace, you likely worry a lot – sometimes it is paralyzing, or you experience the dreaded panic attack.
Maybe addiction is your monster – taking over and driving your bus. Addiction affects you in more ways than you probably realize. It’s insidious, really.
But there are many ways to address addiction. On some level, understanding its role in your life is key; and finding a way to replace the addiction with healthier behaviors that serve a healthier role can help.
Changing what you believe about yourself is a must as well. Managing the ups and downs that come with overcoming the addiction is a little easier with some professional, competent help.
That’s where I come in.
You’re not alone.
It’s likely you’re not the only one you know experiencing these issues.
It can be incredibly frustrating, because there’s a part of you that knows things will be alright, but the “feels” just take over sometimes, unannounced and without warning.
Being a responsible person takes its toll and leaves you feeling helpless at times.
Let’s break down your challenges…
… into more manageable pieces, so you can focus on what’s most important. That’s how you create momentum, and that’s when change will happen.
This is how it works: you share with me what brought you to this point, and I help clarify what you want.
I’m listening to what is really important to you about what you want. I help identify the nuggets that want to come out.
Most people say something about wanting to be happier. We get more specific about what that looks like, feels like, even sounds like. Being too general is part of the problem, so this type of conversation helps break “happiness” into more manageable pieces. Then you have something more tangible to work with; action seems more likely and easier. We focus on what you have control over.
A place to be heard – not judged…
There is a saying I heard once that goes something like, “Let me hear what I say, so I know what I think.” That might describe what many experience when they come for counseling.
The opportunity to talk without feeling judged lets us explore ideas and solutions, which results in motivation for progress.
Most people, when offered the right support, can work through their problems. In that sense, “We are our own experts.”
A therapist who can listen and sometimes challenge us lets us face our trials when we feel stuck or lost.
This is the opportunity I offer to you!
Ready to see and do things a little better?

You’re not meant to do this alone.
